“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

– Romans 3:23-25

As a Christian, when was the last time that you heard a message on the Blood of Jesus? The subject or topic of the blood of Jesus is one that is rarely discussed today and has become eerily silent from most pulpits. It seems as though its powerful message has been lost among those sermons that stress prosperity, faith, wealth and improvements on our personal standard and quality of life etc.

I want to share with you the various things that the Blood of Jesus afford us as believers and how that our “Faith in the Blood,” enables us to receive everything that His blood has done for us.

The English Standard Version of the Bible reads verse 25 in the above passage of scripture as follows; “Whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

The centerpiece and foundation to the Christian faith is the blood of Jesus. And everything that the blood has done for us is to be and has to be received by faith. The blood of Jesus is one of the most important doctrines to the “New Testament” church because it is founded upon the “New Covenant” which is the Blood of Jesus!

There are three (3) major reasons for us to have faith in the Blood of Jesus. The first is that we have “atonement” through His Blood. We read in Romans that Jesus became the propitiation of our sins through His shed blood.

The word propitiation means; atonement [theologically: the doctrine concerning the reconciliation of God and mankind that is accomplished through the life, suffering, blood shed and death of Jesus Christ]. Under the old covenant; the blood of goats and bulls were used to cover the sins of the people.

Jesus’ blood cleanses and clears the believer from all their sins. Hallelujah! You see; unlike the blood of goats and bulls that merely “covered” the sins of those under the Old Covenant for a year; under the New Covenant; we receive the total forgiveness and “cleansing” from our sins because of the Blood of Jesus!

The second reason for us to have faith in the Blood of Jesus is that we are “accepted” through His blood. The word, accept means; to be generally approved of. It also means; received. And finally, it means; to be regarded as right or in right standing with another.

As a result of the shed blood of Jesus Christ on our behalf; we have been accepted by God. You see, at one time we were once sinners; separated and isolated from God due to sin. But now, because of our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, the blood of Jesus drew us closer or nearer to God Himself. We’re in His family now! Glory to God!

The final reason that we as believers should have faith in the Blood of Jesus is that we have “access” through His Blood. We can now come boldly before the throne of God in prayer for our selves because the Blood of Jesus grants us access.

I pray that this brief message has encouraged and enlightened you to begin to release your faith in the Blood of Jesus Christ like never before. His blood has done so much for us that time would fail for me to try to share it all in one settig. Until next time; have “Faith in the Blood!”
